The Benefits of Bone Broth for Dogs: A Nutritional Powerhouse

Bone broth is a fantastic addition to your dog's diet and great to keep in the house for a host of reasons.

I know that I am consistently striving to provide our furry companions with the best nutrition and care possible. Bone broth has gained significant attention as a superfood for dogs. Packed with essential nutrients and numerous health benefits.

Let me talk you through the incredible advantages of incorporating bone broth into your dog's meal plan.

Promotes Joint Health:

One of the key benefits of bone broth for dogs is its ability to promote healthy joints. As dog's age or engage in physically demanding activities, their joints can experience wear and tear. The natural compounds found in bone broth, such as glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, help maintain the integrity of joints and alleviate joint pain and inflammation. Regular consumption of bone broth can aid in preventing or managing conditions like arthritis, hip dysplasia, and other joint-related problems.

Supports Digestive Health:

A healthy digestive system is crucial for your dog's overall well-being. Bone broth acts as a natural digestive aid due to its high collagen content. Collagen helps to repair and strengthen the lining of the digestive tract, reducing issues such as leaky gut syndrome and improving nutrient absorption. Additionally, the gelatine in bone broth can soothe an upset stomach, making it an excellent option for dogs with digestive sensitivities. Remember 70% of your dog's immune system starts in the gut.

Boosts the Immune System:

A strong immune system is vital for dogs to ward off illnesses and infections. Bone broth contains various beneficial compounds, including amino acids and minerals, that can help boost your dog's immune system. It supports the production of white blood cells and antibodies, enhancing the body's ability to fight off pathogens. By regularly incorporating bone broth into your dog's diet, you can give their immune system the extra support it needs to stay healthy and resilient.

Enhances Hydration:

Bone broth is an excellent way to keep your dog hydrated while providing additional nutritional benefits. The appealing aroma and flavour of bone broth can entice picky eaters to consume more fluids, reducing the risk of dehydration. Whether served alone or mixed with regular meals, bone broth helps promote adequate hydration and overall wellness.

Improves Coat and Skin Health:

A shiny coat and healthy skin are signs of a thriving dog. Bone broth contains essential nutrients like amino acids, collagen, and gelatine, which contribute to improved coat and skin health. These nutrients help strengthen hair follicles, reduce shedding, and promote a lustrous, well-hydrated coat. Additionally, bone broth's anti-inflammatory properties can alleviate skin conditions like allergies, itchiness, and dryness, enhancing your dog's overall comfort and appearance.

Bone broth in your dog's diet can be a game-changer for their overall health and well-being. From promoting joint health and supporting digestion to boosting the immune system and improving coat and skin health, bone broth offers a wide range of benefits.

We now stock 3 different types of bone broth to give you as much choice as possible.

We have the Alexander natural 500ml frozen pouches, the Anco freeze-dried and the Karnlea tera pack.

Let's have a look at the differences between them.

Alexander Natural Frozen pouches are great if you have freezer space, large amounts of dogs to feed or looking for a range of proteins. These guys are great at giving us a massive range of different possibilities.

The Anco freeze-dried is a powdered bone broth that you need to mix with hot water to make the bone broth this can then be fridge or frozen.

Great if you are short on space however it is limited in flavours with only pork and beef options. The benefit of Anco is that you can make as much or as little as you would like.

The Karnlea is the newest addition to our bone broth range this is great to keep in the cupboard till you need it as can be stored at room temperature until opened then needs to be kept in the fridge or frozen. I love this one for when I am camping as the weather is a bit warm as can use it to make sure the dogs are drunk enough and

then pop in in the cold box with the milk. Also, with me doing the flyball it is so important to ensure that I am rehydrating them this is the perfect solution for me.
